Building a coroplast folding boat. this page is part 1: the boat and making a model what am i building? part 2: transfering the design onto the coroplast part 3: folding the coroplast sheet part 4: bracing, making floor, and stiffening the boat part 5: finishing and launching while the peanut gallery looks on. "why!!" you may ask, am i building a plastic sheet folding boat?. Coroplast is a plastic material that you can fold just like cardboard, but it is waterproof. the hull is made from a folded piece of coroplast with a piece of plywood for the transom (the flat part on the back of the boat).
coroplast kayak plans I am from poland living in ireland. when i first saw a photo of the ''oru'' kayak built from coroplast, i thought that this is a brilliant solution and material. unfortunately, the project had two disadvantages: first, i do not like kayaks (i prefer canoes), and second the price. so i have begun searching the web for a project for me. Delivery was $20. this was the largest sheet i could find. i would build a longer kayak if i could find longer sheets. coroplast construction will probably require you to modify the plans to make it work with the use of internal supports etc. gluing bent coroplast in the centre will be really challenging. i would go with marine ply and epoxy.
