Olin stephen’s genius began another fad in the mid 1950s, the keel-centerboard design. after finisterre showed the way, keel-centerboard yawls were built in sizes from 24-foot midget ocean racers, to the largest offshore yachts, in order to take advantage of favorable ratings under the cca rule and emulate finisterre’s record of wins.
